Got some cool seeds

So I decided to try out Gardeners Basics for some new stuff for my garden. I grabbed the Pepper Seed Variety Pack and some Organic Fertilizer. It all came in a box, pretty standard. The pepper seeds look like they have a good mix, which is what I wanted. The fertilizer seems fine, too. Nothing crazy, just a solid order. Took about 5 days to get here.

Reliable as always

This is my third time ordering from Gardeners Basics, and they're consistently good. I got the Lettuce Seed Mix and some Composting Supplies this time. Just like my previous orders for microgreens and flower seeds, everything arrived well-packed and on time, about 6 days to New York. Their seeds always have good germination rates for me. It's why I keep coming back; I know what to expect and they deliver every time.

Decent variety, slow shipping

I ordered the Herb Seed Variety Pack and some Seed Starting Trays. The selection of herbs in the pack is really good, and everything was well-packaged. I appreciate that they offer both common and some less common herbs. However, shipping took a little longer than I expected, about 8 days to reach me in California. The tracking updates were a bit sparse initially. Customer service was responsive when I inquired, which was a plus. Overall, a good experience, but a faster shipping option would be great.

Good value on seed vault

I was looking for a good deal on a survival seed vault and found Gardeners Basics. I picked up the Vegetable Seed Vault Kit when it was on a bundle discount, which saved me a decent amount. Shipping took about a week to get to my place in Ohio, which was fine. The kit seems comprehensive for the price I paid. I was happy with the overall value, especially with the discount.

hey, was looking at the survival seed vaults. how long do these seeds typically stay good for if i store them right?

A Andre 2 months ago
From what I remember on their site, they talk about them being viable for many years, like a decade or more if you keep them cool and dry. It's kinda the whole point of a 'survival' kit.

yeah, mine came with instructions on storage and they're designed for long-term. i think they test for germination too, so you should be good.

i'm in Portland, OR, if I order a seed vault kit today, how long do you think it'll take to get here?

D Derek M. 3 months ago
For me, shipping usually takes about 5-7 business days from when I order. I'm in California, so Portland might be similar.

depends on the kit size maybe? I got some smaller seed packets last month and they showed up in about a week. a vault might be a bit longer but probably not by much.

how are Gardeners Basics seeds compared to like, Burpee or Johnny's Selected Seeds? mostly looking for good heirloom stuff.

A Amber Kaur 2 months ago
Gardeners Basics focuses super hard on non-GMO and heirloom, which is great. Burpee has some good stuff but can be more hit or miss with heirlooms. Johnny's is solid too, but I find GB's selection for survival stuff is way better.

I've used seeds from all of them. For genuine heirloom and long-term storage, Gardeners Basics is top-tier. Burpee is more mainstream, and Johnny's is good but feels more commercial sometimes. GB feels more dedicated to the 'sustainable' side.

anyone know if Gardeners Basics has free shipping? or do you always have to pay for it?

S Shane Beaumont 2 months ago
They usually offer free shipping if you hit a certain order total. I got it on my last seed order without needing a code, it just applied at checkout.

i think it's for orders over a specific amount, yeah. no code needed most of the time.
